Prestige vs Rebirth in Minecraft Prison: When to Reset
Prestige resets one enchant, rebirth resets your rank progression. Both make you stronger for good. Here is how they differ and when to pull the trigger.
Prestige vs rebirth comes down to scope. On PinnaMC, prestige resets a single maxed pickaxe enchant for a permanent bonus on that enchant, while rebirth is the big account-level reset: once your rankup is maxed you rebirth, earn Rebirth Points and spend them in a skill tree of permanent upgrades. Prestige is a small, frequent decision; rebirth is a milestone.
PinnaMC (play.pinnamc.com) is a Prison OP Minecraft server with automatic multi-language support that plays in your own language, running on its own prison core, PinnaPrison. This guide explains every progression layer so you know what to reset, and when.
The progression layers on PinnaMC
Before comparing, here is how progress stacks up:
- Rankup: your main ladder. You earn Rankup XP while mining and spend it to climb levels. Rankup levels unlock content and rewards along the way.
- Pickaxe Level: a second track fed by Pickaxe XP, also earned by mining.
- Enchants: bought with Tokens (and Gems for some), each with its own level.
- Enchant prestige: a reset layer on top of each enchant.
- Rebirth: a reset layer on top of rankup.
- Masteries: a long-term layer fed by enchant procs, which also boosts prestige and rebirth.
On many prison servers, "prestige" means resetting your rank. On PinnaMC, the rank reset layer is called rebirth, and prestige refers to enchants. Keep that in mind when you read the in-game menus.
What is enchant prestige?
When one of your pickaxe enchants reaches its max level, you can prestige it. The enchant goes back to level 0 and you gain a permanent bonus, shown as stars next to its name. Depending on the enchant, a prestige can:
- raise its max proc chance, so AOE enchants trigger more often, and/or
- raise its payout, which matters most for enchants like Token Greed.
Each enchant has its own prestige cap, and every loop is usually more expensive than the last. Mastery upgrades can raise the prestige cap on all your enchants at once.
What is rebirth?
Rebirth is the prestige-of-prestige layer. Once your rankup hits the required level, open /rebirth. You pay the rebirth price and receive Rebirth Points. Those points go into the rebirth skill tree, a menu of permanent upgrades such as a higher enchant proc chance, currency boosts or better autominer charge.
Rebirth also unlocks and feeds other systems, like pickaxe attributes. On top of that, rebirths can expand how far your rankup can go, so every rebirth opens more room to grow. Rebirth rewards can also trigger at specific rebirth milestones.
Prestige vs rebirth: comparison table
| Enchant prestige | Rebirth | |
|---|---|---|
| What you give up | That enchant's levels (back to 0) | The rebirth price |
| Requirement | That enchant maxed | Rankup at the required level plus the rebirth price |
| What you gain | Stars: higher max chance and/or payout on that enchant | Rebirth Points for the skill tree |
| Scope | One enchant | Whole account |
| How often | Frequently, enchant by enchant | Milestone, less often |
| Menu | Enchant upgrade menu (right-click pickaxe) | /rebirth |
| Boosted by | Mastery upgrades (higher prestige cap) | Mastery upgrades (extra and lucky Rebirth Points) |
When should you prestige an enchant?
Prestige when the enchant is maxed and it is a core part of your income. Good candidates are Token Greed and your main AOE enchant (Jackhammer, Mega Drill or Tactical Nuke, for example). Before clicking, ask yourself:
- Can I level it back up fast? If rebuilding takes ages, buy something else first.
- Is there a new enchant I still have at level 0? A fresh AOE enchant often gives more than one prestige star.
- Will the bonus actually matter? A higher proc chance on an enchant you barely use is wasted.
When should you rebirth?
Rebirth as soon as you can do it comfortably. The skill tree bonuses are permanent, and the earlier you have them, the longer they work for you. Some tips:
- Plan your first points. An enchant proc chance upgrade helps every active enchant, which makes it a strong opening pick.
- Check the price. Each rebirth tends to cost more than the previous one, so keep an eye on your money before committing.
- Do not neglect masteries. Mastery upgrades can give extra Rebirth Points on every rebirth, and a lucky chance at bonus points.
How prestige, rebirth and masteries connect
These systems are designed to loop together:
- You mine and your enchants proc.
- Procs advance your masteries, which pay Mastery Points.
- Mastery upgrades raise your enchant prestige cap and add Rebirth Points.
- More prestige and rebirth upgrades make your enchants proc more often.
- Back to step 1, faster.
That loop is what keeps Prison OP on PinnaMC fun long after the first hours: there is always a next reset to aim for.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between prestige and rebirth?
On PinnaMC, prestige resets one maxed pickaxe enchant for a permanent bonus on that enchant. Rebirth is an account-level reset unlocked by maxing your rankup, and it pays Rebirth Points for a skill tree.
When should I rebirth in Minecraft Prison?
As soon as you meet the rankup requirement and can comfortably pay the price. Rebirth skill tree upgrades are permanent, so getting them early pays off longer.
What do Rebirth Points do?
Rebirth Points are spent in the rebirth skill tree (/rebirth) on permanent upgrades such as higher enchant proc chance and currency boosts.
Do I lose my enchants when I rebirth?
Rebirth is tied to your rankup progression, not to your pickaxe enchants. Enchant levels are only reset when you choose to prestige a specific enchant.
